Mar’s Top 5…CGI Movies

Ok this top 5 was requested by Kuna. She said that if I didn’t do it she would hurt me…sooo I decided to do it because I don’t want to lose a thumb.

I really enjoy CG movies. Even if the majority of these films are geared for children I still like them. Maybe it’s because a CG movie takes so much time and effort to make the creators of these films have no choice but to make sure they do the best they can. Whatever the reason here are my favorites… (more…)

Sex and the City

Just to let you know what to expect in the following entry. It will be a movie review featuring bits and pieces of information relating to my life. Hope you enjoy my novel of a post.

The other night, three girls sat down at a local restaurant discussing the details of one of the biggest chick flicks of the year to hit theaters; Sex and the City. One of them named, Claire started to compare her life and the life of one of the characters in the movie, “I think it was selfish of her to do that,” she explained. The other girl, Sydney quickly responded, “She was unhappy though.” (more…)

XBLA: Switchball Review

For an FPS junkie that has never cared for physics, I thought Switchball would be a drag, but I’ll admit I was quite entertained. There are 5 worlds (Lava World, Sky World, Ice World, etc) with 6 levels for each and two modes for online multiplayer. The goal is to complete each level while using the motion and force of the ball that the player is controlling. The game also makes it intriguing by allowing the ball to change into different physical properties that a player can use to their advantage. Changing it into metal will make the ball heavier and vulnerable to magnetic forces, but rolling through hefty barricades will be easier. Another type is the air ball, which is the opposite of the metal ball. It’s lighter and can glide across thin sheets where as a metal ball can not. There is one more type of ball that a player can morph into, which is the most fun, but I don’t want to give too much away. (more…)

Procrastination Strikes Back!

Sounds like a new and altered title of an action packed movie, no? I’m afraid it isn’t, it is however, my desperate attempt to make an interesting, yet apologetic post in regards to the lack of multi-tasking skills I truly have. I tried working on a particular review for a video game while also studying and completing a few assignments for my online courses. The end result of my awesome review was pure crap. I would rather submit something worth while, then to post a convoluted paragraph just to fill in some space. I could also tell you what the hell I’ve been doing for the past couple weeks that has prevented me from posting, but I think the title explains it all.

Expect some new content soon-ish!

A First Person Shooter Junkie

Hello, my name is Kuna and I am a FPS addict.

It all started with Rainbow Six: Vegas in 2006. After I completed the storyline on the hardest difficulty, I attempted to face the competition on Xbox Live. In my first few matches, I got killed repeatedly, which was the norm of my usual online gaming (somewhat) existence in Call of Duty 2 and Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. A thought came to me that I should actually try and put forth the effort of perhaps winning at least one match. I jumped into a party of 11 players fitted for Deathmatch and wished myself luck. Like a bad routine, I kept getting killed over and over and realized my accuracy was indeed, well… inaccurate. So I equipped a sub machine gun.

With my UMP45, I was able to kill one guy and run in a room that provided cover from another player heading towards me. To my surprise, I shot him point blank in the head after I blew up two guys on the lower level with a grenade. One more came charging through the door on the opposite side of me. I panicked and fired from the hip, not really aiming at anything and just hoped the bullets would land somewhere past his armor.

I said to myself, “ooooh, no flippen way!!” as the achievement bar popped up stating, “Killer’s Spree,” which is obtaining 5 consecutive player kills without dying. At this time, I fell in love with the game and eventually fell for the entire genre itself.

I’ve learned to study the skills of other players and blend their style in with my own. The strategy incorporated into tactical shooters make it interesting for me to predict what the opposing player is planning and what their next move will be. For every prediction that becomes reality brings a sense of satisfaction. It’s an overall fun experience that I enjoy playing with friends. They keep me grounded enough to not let my competitive edge get the best of me. As much as I enjoy gaming on Xbox Live, I must give credit to previous consoles that have introduced me to what I love today.

Growing up, I’ve played Nintendo (NES, SNES, N64, GCN, Game Boy, and DS Lite), Sega, PlayStation (1 and 2) and very few games on PC. I became susceptible to all types of gaming, but never spent as many hours as I do now playing the Xbox 360. While you may have guessed that I am going to post something in relation to the FPS genre due to my mini history, I might just surprise you with something different for next week. Or might not, we’ll see how it goes!
