Mar’s Corner: Mar’s sister on Iron Man
SOOO… When the previews for Iron Man started coming out, this past spring, I started to talk smack about how I was going to boycott the Iron Man movie. Why? Because in the Marvel comics he turned against his super hero brethren, and is partially responsible (in my mind anyway) for Captain America’s death. But as the movie got closer to release my stance on the matter weakened, and I went and saw it and was blown away by how good it was and blah blah blah… My sister on the other hand (she also reads the comics because I lend them to her) was not so easily swayed. She actually stuck to her guns and to this day refuses to forgive Iron Man for what he did in the comics and refuses to see the movie. This is a copy of her blog from Myspace on just that very subject. I think it’s pretty funny.

Iron Man I am boycotting Iron Man.
I know it may be one of the most anticipated movies among my fellow nerds and even the non nerds. But I, as a comic book reader, particularly Marvel reader, refuse to see that movie.
People think I am kind of insane, and I probably am, but let me tell you why I am boycotting this movie. (By the way I know this makes me sound like the biggest nerd, haha)
First and foremost, not a big fan of the character itself Tony Stark AKA Iron Man. I feel is a bit of a bore. I mean he is rich and made an iron suit and now he’s some superhero. Bah. People may argue Batman is kind of the same. Yeah but Batman has some ninja skill, that is kind of bad ass. And I know Iron Man being a “bore” is arguable as well, considering he is a flawed character, being an alcoholic, self absorbed, and a playboy. But hell, doesn’t that describe most men? Haha, joking…sort of… Lately, it seems like those are the only kind of boys I meet, and it really doesn’t make them more interesting
Second, and the most important reason I am not seeing Iron Man. CIVIL WAR!!! Ok those of you who have a non nerd life and do not read comic books, I’ll let you in on the story. There was a story arc where the government wanted to register all super heroes. Super heroes divided into two factions. One, led by Iron Man who worked with the government to bring in super heroes and register them. The second faction fought the law, feeling it was taking away rights. Iron Man turned against his people, and helped the government to capture his old friends! He even enlisted villains to help out! All this resulted in Captain America’s death! CAPTAIN AMERICA! He fought Nazis for god’s sake!! Iron Man and Captain America used to be buddies and then Iron Man turned against him!! FUCK THAT! FUCK IRON MAN!!!
And dude seriously, he got his ass beat by Hulk and Thor….fuck Iron Man…hahaha
BEST QUOTE FROM THOR WHEN HE WHOOPED IRON MAN’S ASS: “Yes. Things have changed. You have hunted down those we once fought beside and called comrades. Killed or imprisoned those who opposed you, regardless of their previous loyalties…Give your orders and ultimatums to those who choose to obey, or are too cowardly to fight, NOT to me. Or learn again the difference between a God of Thunder– and a mortal man in a metal suit.”
I’m such a nerd. |

wow, I need to buy me some comics.
I’m sure Mar will let you borrow any of his, and any I have.
Simple explanation for all of his actions: The writers screwed him up, cause they needed a badguy that used to be good. Suddenly he turned from being a bit of an ass to a complete and total idiot. No explination, just instant idiot. They did the same thing with everyone on that side of the initiative. It could have been an interesting argument, but they needed to have big fantastic fights and clear villains, so they dropped any sort of thought or insight in favor of Bling Bang.
Civil war had some pretty wicked fights, but i think it was one of the worst written story arcs i’ve read from Marvel.
There. I’ve said it. Take that Mar’s Sister’s Myspace Blog!
she admitted to being unreasonable.
